Canteen
Assists Upper Chichester |
04/27/2011 - Canteen 47 was dispatched
to 2000 block of 3rd Avenue in Upper Chichester to assist with rehab at a working
dwelling fire. Canteen 47 went responding, driven by R. Arscott and
under command of S. Comisiak. Crew arrived on scene and set up dry snack
and hot/cold beverages. Once command released Canteen, crew restocked
all needed products. Canteen 47 was placed available and returning. Once
back at station, Canteen 47 was placed off radio.

Canteen
Assists Middletown |
04/26/2011 - Canteen 47 was dispatched
to 200 block of Lenni Road in Middletown to assist with rehab at a working
building fire. Canteen 47 went responding, driven by S. Comisiak and
under command of J. Muscella. Crew arrived on scene and set up cold/hot
beverages and dry snacks. S. Comisiak checked with 69-9, who advised her
they were going to be there for a while and to cook if we were able. A.
Sadler and J. Muscella began cooking burgers and S. Comisiak began
cooking hot dogs, while D. Evans and L. Majeski manned the dry snacks
and cold beverages. Once command advised canteen they could become
available. Crew cleaned and restored all equipment onto canteen. Canteen
47 was placed returning and available. Canteen returned to station and
was placed off radio. Canteen was, fueled, refilled with water and dirty
tanks emptied.

Accident with
Entrapment I95 Southbound |
03/22/2011 - Companies 47 and 40 were
dispatched to I95 Southbound at the Commodore Barry Bridge overpass. The
incident was upgraded to an accident with entrapment and company 52 was
added to the incident. Rescue 40 and Rescue 52 were the first crews to
arrive on scene. Rescue 40 put extrication tools into service. 47-9A
went direct to the scene. Crews found a 4 vehicle accident with 1 person
entagled. Crew from 52 had a hand line in service for precautionary
measures. Patient was extricated from the vehicle and taken to the
hospital. Once all drivers/passengers were removed from vehicles, all 4
vehicles were removed from the roadway by Twin Oakes Towing. See police
report for all specifics on make, model and ownership. After the highway
was clear of vehicles and debris, 47-9A placed scene under control and
companies available. Rescue and Engine 47 returned to station and
company was placed off radio.

5 Vehicle
Accident on I95 Southbound |
01/25/2011 -
Companies 47, 40 and 52 were dispatched to I95 Southbound at the
Commodore Barry overpass for an accident with injuries. 47-9 went direct
to the scene and found a 5 vehicle accident with multiple injuries. 47-9
met with 29-42, and was advised that there were 2 injuries in the Chevy
blazer about 50 yards up from the scene. 47-9 advised Squad 52 to take
the accident that had the Nissan and the Toyota, Rescue 47 and Engine
and 40-6A were given the Ford F150 and Chevy Blazer to take care of.
Once the patients from the Blazer were taken care of, the Ford and
Blazer were both secured to be transported to Twin Oaks towing. Same
thing for the Nissan and Toyota. Once all vehicles were removed from the
roadway, all units were placed available from the scene.

01/24/2011 - Company 47 was dispatched
to the 1600 block of Powell Road for an odor of gas. 47-12 was on
location from the previous call, as well as crew from 57. Rescue 47 went
responding, driven by S. Comisiak and under command of J. Comisiak.
Rescue arrived on location and crew began checking gas meters on the
houses. 47-12 had PECO notified, fire board advised of their normal
response time of within the hour. Crews remained on location until PECO
arrived. When PECO arrived on location, the employee found and active
leak in front of 1687 Powell Road. He advised that the leak was not a
major leak and they would be out in the morning to dig for repair. 47-12
advised fire board of findings and placed companies available. Rescue 47
returned to station and company was placed off radio.

Fire Alarm on
Powell Road |
01/24/2011 - Companies 47, 52, 45, 57
and 63 were dispatched to 1693 Powell Road for a fire alarm. 47-12 went
direct to the scene and held with company 57 and himself, as they were
waiting for the home owner. Homeowner arrived and found that there was a
bad battery in the smoke detector. While on location 47-12 had an odor
of gas in the 1600 block of Powell and had company 47 to the scene while
keeping 57.

Canteen 47
Assists Darby Borough |
01/23/2011 - Canteen 47 was dispatched
to the 1000 block of Main Street in Darby Borough to assist with rehab
on the fire ground. Canteen 47 went responding, driven by D. Evans with
crew of S. Comisiak and J. Muscella. Crew arrived on location and set up
refreshments. After released Canteen was restored, refilled and cleaned.
Canteen 47 went off radio at 8:15AM.

01/08/2011 - Canteen 47 was dispatched
to the 400 block of Bickley Street in the City of Chester for a 2nd
alarm working building fire. Both 47-8 and Canteen 47 went
responding at 22:57:36. Crews from both units assisted with
supplies needed for the emergency personnel on scene. 47-8
and Canteen 47 returned and was placed off radio at approximately 00:30.
12/25/2010 - Companies 47,52,57, and
medic 45-7 were dispatched to 1547 Rainer road, for a tripped fire
alarm. 47-9 went responding, and was advised bu fire board that the
resident had the alarm go off for no reason, and that there was no
apparent smoke or fire. 47-9 held the apparatus in their stations, while
47-9, 47-9A, and 47-9B went over to investigate. The alarm panel at the
residence is a hard wired system that is not currently going through an
alarm company. the alarm went off, when it was accidentally bumped into.
47-9 advised fire board of the situation, and placed all companies
available.

Cooking Fire
on Woodworth Road |
12/24/2010 - Companies 47, 52, 57, RIT
63, RIT 39 and M45-7 were dispatched to 4035 Woodworth Road for a
dwelling fire reported in the oven. Rescue 47 went responding driven by
J. Comisiak and under command of W. Ladue. Crew arrived and found the
resident was cleaning the oven, the debris on the bottom of the oven
caught fire. Smoke filled first and second floors, fire was out on
arrival of fire apparatus. Crews set up positive pressure ventilation.
47-9A placed scene under control and company available. Rescue 47
returned to station and company was placed off radio.
12/23/2010 - Companies 47 and 40 were
dispatched to I-95 south at the Commodore Barry bridge on ramp, for an
accident with an unconscious person. 47-9 went responding, and was
advised by fire board that the person is from out of state and unsure of
their location. Fire board dispatched the call of the G.P.S. location.
40-6A and 47-9 arrived on location, along with medic 81-7, at 322 West
off ramp from the highway. Rescue 47 and Engine 40 arrived on location
and assisted with patient care. Once the patient was loaded into the
ambulance, company 47 was placed available, since the accident was in
Upper Chi.

Carbon
Monoxide Alarm on Shannon Street |
12/23/2010 - Companies 47, 52, 57 and
63 were dispatched to 1919 Shannon Street for a carbon monoxide alarm
activation. 47-9 went direct to the scene. Rescue 47 responded, driven
by D. Evans and under command of A. Sadler. Crews investigated and found
the detector was defective. 47-9 held with company 47, as Engine 47 was
on location as well, until the housing authority arrived. Housing
authority is going to replace the detector. Rescue and Engine 47
returned to station and company was placed off radio.

Heating Oil
Spill on Carter Avenue |
12/20/2010 - Companies 47 and 52 were dispatched to
2900 block of Carter Ave., for a home heating oil spill in the back
yard. 47-9 arrived on location, and was advised by 29-42 that
approximately 150 gallons of home heating oil were spill from the tank
into the back yard. 47-9 investigated this, and confirmed the active
spill in the back yard. Rescue 52 and Squad 52 arrived on location next,
and their crews started to contain the spill, and confirmed that no
heating oil leaked into the basement. 47-9 requested fire board to
notify the D.E.P. of the situation, a representative from the D.E.P
spoke to 47-9 on the phone at the scene as well as the resident. The
owner of the home was also spoken to on the phone by the D.E.P. and 47-9
to advise him that the spill was his responsibility to clean up. Crews
from 52 and 47 contained the spill around the tank, and did their best
to secure the leak. the tank was still leaking some when the fire
apparatus cleared the scene.
12/18/2010 - This was a Christmas
filled day at our fire house. We started with a successful pancake
breakfast at Applebee's in Aston. Then we took our annual trek
with Santa around Chester Township to give out candy canes to the
children. Last but not least we had our annual Fire House
Christmas Party, which was filled with fun, friends, family and plenty
of food. And of course a visit from Santa!

Assist Police
on Bethel Road |
12/17/2010 - Company 47 was dispatched
to 2944 Bethel Road to assist the police with a ladder. 47-9 went direct
to the scene. Police reported the house was vacant, but there was a
candle burning in the second floor window. Rescue 47 went responding,
driven by D. Evans and under command of A. Sadler. Crew arrived and put
a ladder to second floor window, but window would not open. 47-9 got a
first floor window open and an officer and 47-12 entered residence and
put candle out. 47-9 placed situation under control and company
available. Rescue 47 returned to station and company was placed off
radio.

Fire Alarm
Bridgewater Road |
12/16/2010 - Companies 47, 52, 57, 63,
and 39 were dispatched to 279 Bridgewater Road for a fire alarm. Second
call from the location reported smoke in the building, fire board
upgraded the assignment to a building fire. 47-9 went direct to the
scene and set up crews for interior investigation. Rescue 47 went
responding, driven by S. Comisiak and under command of A. Sadler. Crew
arrived on location and assisted with investigation. After looking for
the source of the smoke with no avail, 47-9 held with Rescue 47 and
Quint 52 for further investigation. Crews from 47 and 52 continued to
investigate and found a machine with an electrical fire in it. Crews
extinguished the fire with dry chemical extinguishers. 47-9 placed
situation under control and companies returning and available. Rescue 47
returned to station and company was placed off radio.

assists in Yeadon |
11/19/2010 - Canteen 47 assisted
Yeadon Fire Company at the 900 block of Longacre Blvd for a building
fire. Canteen 47 arrived and setup refreshment for the fire, EMS
and police personnel on scene.

11/18/2010 - Canteen 47 assisted Darby
Fire Companies at the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue for a building fire.
Canteen 47 arrived and setup refreshment for the fire, EMS and police
personnel on scene.

11/17/2010 - Companies 47 and 52 were
dispatched to Concord and McDonald blvd. for a fuel spill from a tractor
trailer. 47-9 went responding, and was advised by fire board that the
fuel spill started in company 69's local, near Thomas Chevrolet and went
down 452 to concord road. 47-9 arrived on location with a tractor
leaking a large amount of diesel fuel. 47-9 had rescue 47 arrived on
location and were assigned to the storm drain that the diesel fuel was
leaking in to. Rescue 47 barricaded off the storm drain to help reduce
the amount of diesel fuel leaking in it. Rescue 52 arrived on location,
and were assigned to plugging the leak from the fuel tank on the
trailer. 47 and 52's crews also contained the fuel spill that was
running on the street. The spill originally started on route 1 near
Thomas Chevrolet, 47-9 and 69-9 maintained communication throughout the
incident in both locals. 69-9 requested a sand truck from Penn. D.O.T.
to the scene to cover the spill on the main roads. 47-9 interviewed the
driver of the truck, and he advised that he believed that he had only
had a half tank on his fuel gauge. the driver advised us, that his truck
holds 350 gallons of fuel. twin oaks towing was dispatched to the scene
to remove the vehicle from the roadway, they also has a pump to siphon
the remainder of the fuel from the truck. Approximately 125 gallons of
fuel was removed from the fuel tanks. Companies 47 and 52 placed 50 bags
of oil dry on the ground to contain the spill. 47-9 requested fire board
to notify the E.P.A. that diesel fuel did leak into the storm drain, an
unknown amount of fuel had gotten into the drain before it could be
contained. Once the spill was contained, and cleaned up, all units
returned available.

assists in Eddystone |
10/03/2010 - Companies 47 was
dispatched to 903 Industrial Highway to assists Eddystone Fire Company
with Canteen 47. Canteen 47 arrived on location and crew provided
cold and hot drinks, dry snacks, hamburgers and hot dogs to the
personnel on scene.

09/21/2010 - Companies 47 and 61
were dispatched to i-95 south at the Commodore Barry bridge off ramp for
a vehicle fire. Rescue 47 and Engine 61 arrived with a vehicle fire with
the engine compartment involved. 47-9 arrived on location, and took
command of the scene. Rescue 47 placed an 1 3/4 " hose line into
service, and extinguished the fire with the assistance of engine 61's
crew. Fire was placed under control at 13:13:35, and units returned
available

09/17/2010 -
Companies 47,52,57,63,61,Truck 69, R.I.T. 39 and medic 83-7 were
dispatched again to 2300 Concord road, The Delaware County trash
transfer station, for a building fire. 47-9 went direct to the scene and
advised incoming crews that they would be working on hot spots on the
second floor compactor area. After all hot spots were
extinguished, 47-9 placed situation under control and companies
available. Rescue 47 returned to station and company was placed
off radio.

09/17/2010 - Companies
47,52,57,63,61,Truck 69, R.I.T. 39 and medic 83-7 were dispatched to
2300 Concord road, The Delaware County trash transfer station, for a
building fire. 47-9 went responding, and was advised by fire board that
the police department was on scene with a fire in the roof of the
building. 47-9 arrived on location with a large pile of trash,
approximately 50' long - 20' high - 20' deep, on fire inside the main
trash handling area. 57-1 arrived on location first, 47-9 had their crew
stretch a 150' section 1 3/4 " hose line in the main bay door to start
extinguishing the fire. The sprinkler system inside the building had
activated, and was helping to control the fire. Truck 63 arrived on
location second, and set their ladder up to the roof to check for any
extension to the roof. Engine 47 arrived 3 rd on scene, and dropped a 5"
supply line, approximately 300' , to 57-1 for water. Truck 69, Engine
52, and Squirt 61 were also staged in the rear of the building by the
open bay door on that side in case any additional equipment was needed.
Rescue 47 and Squad 52 staged at the hydrant, so they could pressurize
it for 57-1. All other apparatus that arrived on scene staged on
incinerator road, and sent their crews to the rear of 57-1 to assist
with personal. 47-9 set up incinerator road command, 63 command handled
roof operations, and 47-9A set up interior command. a second 1 3/4 "
hose line was placed into service, along with a deck gun with a 5"
supply line was also set up inside of the building to make it 3 water
lines in service working on extinguishing the fire. At the first 10
minute mark, 47-9 requested . P.E.C.O. , C.W.A., and a representative
from the Delaware County Waste management to come to the scene. Fire
board was no able to get a response from Delaware County waste
management to come to the scene, so 47-9 found heavy equipment operators
from within the fire personal on scene to handle the front end loader
and the crane that were on scene. this equipment was placed into service
by fire personal to assist with spreading out the trash pile, and making
easier to extinguish the fire inside the building. During the
extinguishments of the fire, it was found that there was also fire on
top of the plat form area above the large pile of trash that was on
fire. At approximately the 4 hour mark this fire was found. 47-9
requested to cover companies from station 47 and 69 to assist at the
scene. At this time the original companies dispatched to the scene were
being relieved on the scene .Tower 34 arrived ( from station 69 ) and we
placed their ladder truck up to an opening in the side of the building
to put a hand line into service on the fire above the trash pile. At
approximately 6 am workers from Waste management arrived for work, they
operated the waste transfer area of the building where the fire was
located, and took over using the heavy equipment to assist the fire
companies with extinguishing the remainder of the fire. Once the fire
was believed to be completely out, 47-9 placed all units available from
the scene.
